Witch Trials

In 1692 trials started to put witches to death in Massachusetts. Before and after the trials, people went on witch hunts and burned men, women, and children alive because they assumed they were witches. Even after a year long trial and almost 20 people hung to death by a Supreme Court ruling, 100′s more were killed by fellow community members.

The trials ended in 1693, but people out of panic and mass hysteria from assumption, killed many more over the course of 200 years. Some believe it all started from a family rivalry. No matter what, they didn’t have all the facts, took only a piece of information, assumed it was fact, and murdered men, women, and children for personal gain.

As you might know, I’m an MMO blogger. I like to be positive though, unlike a lot of gaming sites and other bloggers. I didn’t say all, but if you want to argue that, I’m sure you are at fault. I’m not accountable for what I say. The thing is, I’m not popular because I’m positive. Oh and I want to be popular.

After over 3 years of blogging, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I was being creative, nice, and looking at the positive side of the MMO community. Well, I’m kind of sick of being by myself. Even though it goes against my morals and in the pit of my stomach I know it’s wrong, I’m going to grab a torch and help burn a community down.

I’d rather be surrounded by people that stab me in the back and depressingly talk about doom and gloom all day, than huddle in a corner in fear of being the next victim to be set on fire alive. You know, mindless drone, peer pressure kind of stuff.

I just figured, no matter what I do will help at all. I might as well join the crowd for 200 years even though I know it is wrong. That way I can safely blog without people judging my opinion.

Let’s face it, nobody enjoys games because they are fun anymore. From the first day of development they are meant to overthrow some other game. I realize now the business is all about hating each other to make a living. When a developer is asked what is the foundation of their game, they should reply, “To pit the players against each other so bad, they want to burn their neighbor on a cross, alive.”

I said in my last post we needed to take responsibility for our actions to slowly make a better community, I lied. We should point the finger at each other until we become immortalized no matter what. We all know, our own opinion is the best. Admitting we are wrong or that we might have misspoke, would only show weakness. It’s just better to make more excuses to get more followers to worship us.

I suggest we take everything out of context, blame others, give up and watch the children burn in the house of our future, and walk away arm and arm with our new friends. Now that is popular! After all, the only way to be popular is to stand on the pile of dead bodies so everybody can hear us. Sooner or later we are going to have more corpses in our crowd than living, breathing fans. Hamlet would be proud of us.

Our sign reads:

Welcome to the MMO Witch Trials! Were we gladly kill our own, with a smile and a wave.
